I was making a cushion cover as a part of a’ Grant Your Wish’ last week, when I decided I really wanted rounded corners instead of square. I didn’t want to just re-do the overlocking/serging around the corners (might do that if it was just for me) so started the unpicking …. and then I thought ah ha! This is what I should blog about!
Have you ever tried to pull out overlocker/serger stitches and ended up with something looking like this?
Well, never again! This is one of those things, that once you have seen, you will not forget, and you will wonder “Why didn’t someone tell me?”
I have threaded my serger with coloured threads so we can see them more clearly:
Green – Lower looper (on the back)
Pink – Upper Looper
Blue – Right needle
Orange – Left needle
So to unpick the stitching EASILY:
1. Snip the Right Needle Thread (Blue) every inch or couple of cms or so – those pieces will pull out easily.
2. Now do the same for the Left Needle Thread (orange) – you can see it crosses over the loops formed by the Looper Thread (pink) – don’t cut the looper!
3. Pull the Looper Threads – front
How easy was that!!
I hope this has helped and that you never have to see that scrunched up mess again!
Until next time
